Before & After

I found a corkboard for dirt cheap at a local thriftstore and thought how cute it would be in a little girl's room! It was a fairly simple project that included giving the frame a good coat of fresh white paint, then the rest was changing out the top piece to something that better suited a little girl. I love when I find pieces like this becasue it is so versatile and can be anything....all you gotta do is use your imagination. The total cost was about $7 bucks. The memo board itself was $2, then I had to buy fabric and glue sticks. I already had the paper for the background in the picture, button, spray paint, and I used my cricut to cut out the letter "C" initial. I hope Cassie enjoys her new coark board for her newly remodeled bedroom!

This is so beautiful. I just love the pop of the hot pink flowers and the pastel linens paired agains the rustic looking furntiure. Beautiful! This is a Nell Hills design. If you have never been to Nell Hills I suggest going. There is one in KC, north of the river at Briarcliff Village and of course the orignal in Atchison, KS. I love their desgin and always look forward to seeing their seasonal decor.

The other house- Cape Cod

Since I am new to blogging, I figured I would start the first couple of posts by introducing myself and telling you a litle about me. This is old news for some of you who know me already, but for those that don't, here are pictures of our second house. My man and I both own homes but we moved into his a year ago and mine is in limbo....to rent or sell....that is the question. ..said in my best Shakespear voice of course. :)

Above is an image of my fireplace. I love great architectural details such as the moulding and original hard wood floors. The outside picture was taken last year. I'm thinking about tearing out the shrubs and updating the landscaping. What is your favorite style of home?

Late summer decorating-

So it was the first week of August and time to change THE table from 4th of July to late summer style and I remembered that I had a butterfly plate that I bought at Cameron's Home Furnishings in Lees Summit, MO back in the spring. I really loved the look of it, but because it had so much rust and brown/black tones in it I felt it should be shown in late summer early fall when those colors are more prevalant in our landscape.  I also wanted my decor to last thru October when I start decorating for fall, so I chose to use this plate now, in late summer and play off of the plate's rusty brown and cream colors to create my collage. I already had the plate stand, galvanized metal vase, lamp, and basekts, but I added thrift store flowers and thrift store mini bucket for the reed disfuser I snagged on a clearance, and the clearance candle holder below. The only thing I paid full retail for was the butterfly plate. I love using what I already have to save money! The one table can take on so many looks just by changing out your accessories.
