Easy Fried Cinnamon Apples

Its that time of year again....APPLE SEASON! I love for Mr.Chaos and I to take a small road trip to a nearby apple orchard and pick fresh apples. Its been a while since I have done this and I think we are over due. If you have never been to an apple orchard you MUST go! Stop what you are doing and run, not walk, to your nearest apple orchard! (LOL just kidding-kinda)

I swear hands down that you can't beat fresh picked produce, whether or it is fresh blueberries, peaches, or apples, whatever you pick will always taste so much better when its right out of mother nature, but for the recipe I am going to share with you today I am using store bought food.

Here is what you need to get started:

Easy Cinnamon Apples
  • 1-2 apples....I used a Pink Lady apple but any variety should work (as for how many apples it depends on how many people you are feeding-I use 1 apple for 2 people)
  • Cinnamon (I use Korintje cinnamon from Pampered Chef)
  • Butter
  • Vanilla extract
  • Sugar
  • Brown Sugar
  • Apple Pie Spice-Optional
  • Nutmeg-Optional

Start by heating up a sauce pan to light/medium heat, and wash and slice your apples like so:

These next two ingredients-brown sugar and butter are KEY to the consistency of your "sauce"....I like mine SAUCEY so I add a LARGE spoonful of butter to my pan and let it melt-

Then add your apple slices, a handful of brown sugar, about 2 table spoons of cinnamon, about half cup of sugar, and teaspoon of vanilla....NOW, I say "about" because for this recipe most of it is about adding ingredients to your taste/liking.
Your concoction should now look like this-

Then mix it all up {YUM}! .....and your house will smell FABULOUS!

Let the mixture simmer and the apples will begin to soften up. Once you think they are done, let everything cool and your "sauce" will thicken up. If its too runny add more brown sugar while it is simmering then let it cool to thicken up.

And VOILA! Spiced apples. {YUMMY} and perfect for fall!

In our house we like to serve fried apples with breakfast. Here is a picture of our Sunday breakfast with french toast, sausage patties, OJ and fried apples. YUM!

Fried apples also pair nicely with pork chops or on top of vanilla ice cream so you can get creative with these. They also store nicely too in a plastic sealed container to enjoy the next day so you can make plenty ahead of time and enjoy them all week long.

Bon Appetite!

Easy Project Using My Cricut & Vinyl

If you follow my "Thrifty Finds" posts you may remember I recently found this large black and white plate/platter at my local GW and I said I had plans for it. (If not you can read about it here.)The platter has a black and white Waverly patterned floral design on it and I bought it with the intention of putting it in our home office which is decorated in black, white, and turquoise.

Here is the platter BEFORE:

I used my Cricut "Sophistcate" cartridge and inserted my mat with black peel and stick vinyl using a 2 for the pressure and 2 for the speed.

{Love} this cartridge!

Then unpeeled the background vinyl so that the wording was still left and then used my transfer paper to grab the image and transfer it on to the plate.

Then VOILA! Here is the finished product and I LOVE IT!

Here is a better picture of the AFTER:

I used a plate easel to display the platter (love easels....if you don't have any I highly recommend getting a few).

Not bad for an easy-peasy project on a Sunday evening, and this is one of those projects I have had on my list FOREVER so now I can also mark this off my to-do list. (yeah!)

(FYI-The fleur de lis glass jar sitting on the bottom of this shelf is another Cricut project I did a few months back. You can find the post here. I am currently using the jar to hold my paint color swatches but you can see in the post where it was before-it is a very versatile piece.)

This plate project only cost me about $3 bucks-the cost of the thrift store plate and a small piece of vinyl that I already had so it was very affordable and easy to do.

Have a great week!
