This week's thrifty finds include an AMAZING deal that I got at my local Goodwill. I wasn't going to stop in this particular day but decided what the heck. I would go in but only for 15 min or less and it must have been meant to be because the moment I walked in there they were.....in a cart all by themselves!
Tada!
Yes, luggage.....two pieces, red, and in almost perfect shape!
There are two pieces-one large and one medium size and they were only $4.99 each so for $10 bucks I got both pieces. If you have shopped for luggage then you know how pricey it can be so when I saw these sitting in a cart all by themselves I ran right over and was happily surprised...and nobody was even looking at them until I decided I was interested and started to put them in my cart! Then a couple people walked by and said wow, that's a nice set of luggage....and I smiled, and said, "thanks" but inside I was thinking....haha they're mine now!" LOL :)
The insides are so nice and clean, and barely even used. The medium sized one does not appear to have been used but maybe once or twice and as you can see here it still has the attached travel bag on the inside still in tact.
The large piece however, did have some stains on the exterior but the inside was clean and stiff just like the other one. The stains appear to be oil based so I thought I could work on them with my arsenal of cleaning supplies to get the stains out.
Here is another BEFORE picture taken with the stains.
So I tried using a bucket of Dawn dish soap and cleaned off both pieces then started to scrub the stains out on the big piece with a rag but that did not help much so I broke out the BIG GUNS! .......SPOT SHOT!
This stuff works WONDERS for pet potty stains or if your kids have an oops in bed at night it works great on cleaning the mattress too. Takes the smell AND stain out of things. Its amazing!
I wiped both pieces down...inside and out then treated the larger piece with Spot Shot and worked on the stains for about 10 minutes, then I sprayed both with Febreeze and let them air out for a while.
When I came back to check on them, to my surprise the stains were GONE!
Tada!
Here is the large piece once again....before and after-
So here's my new $10 luggage....that I can not BELIEVE someone donated! They are perfect, and waiting for me to take them on their next adventure!!!!
As for the rest of my finds this week....here's a recap of all the goodies I found:
Black & White platter from Waverly (will be used in an upcoming project)
More old tins. These date back to the 80s.
NIB-4 glass ornaments (will be used in upcoming holiday projects)
Copper wine bottle holder with French script....Will be using this as a candle holder in the fall.
This cool crab that I am going to paint white or red....I haven't decided yet, but he will add a whimsical touch to my new beachy bathroom. You can see more bathroom pics here.
And last but definitely NOT least......Hello Kitty tshirt! (Yes, I am 38 but I still love Hello Kitty) :)
And that's a wrap!
There were so many great deals out there the past few weeks. I hope you were able to take advantage of them and I can't wait to see what everyone has scored!
.....now, I gotta talk Mr.Chaos into travelling somewhere so I can break in our new luggage!!! .....cruise maybe???? :)
