It Must be Magic

A few weeks ago, ok, a month ago in early February, I celebrated my birthday. Its my 39th birthday so I didn't make a big deal about it because I really don't like the fact that I'm in my last year of my 30s. Sigh.....WHERE has time gone?!

So even though this was a low-key birthday for me, I was able to get away for an afternoon and spend some quality time with two of my girlfriends.

We did some shopping, which I will tell you all about in a later post, and then we went to this FABULOUS creperie in downtown Kansas City called Chez Elle.

Our journey to Chez Elle begins by taking us downtown (and just so you know, I LOVE going downtown and getting out of the burbs!)

So going downtown was fun in and of itself, but then we pull up to this historic neighborhood with renovated brick churches and school houses, beautiful old architecture, all nestled up on a hill overlooking downtown and I can't help but get excited about this place.

Here is the front of the building. It is an old building but it has been renovated and has a new facade. Very charming and includes little bistro tables and chairs so you can sit outside and eat.

This will be so much fun in this Spring and Summer.

How Frenchy and cute! Tres Belle! :)

Once inside you can see the expansive menu that includes lite bites like salads, pastries, and of course CREPES!

ALL kinds of crepes! Breakfast crepes, savory crepes, sweet crepes, you name it....they make it!

After placing your order you can walk around to the area where they make the crepes and watch them prepare your order.

Here is the awesome chef making some crepes. See how LARGE these things are? OMG! These crepes are like an entire meal! We thought we were just coming for a little afternoon snack and this is what we got.....HUGE, YUMMY, BEAUTIFULLY prepared crepes!

This was my friend Lori's. She has the Red, White, and Blue berry crepe.

This is my BFF's crepe. She ordered an Apple Pie crepe....and YES, it tastes just like a home made apple pie too with warm filling on the inside!

And since I was the birthday girl I had to be different and get a Chocolate Raspberry crepe, and let me tell you, it was to DIE for!!!  Look at how big that sucker is! ....and it was filled with rich chocolate mouse, drizzled with raspberry sauce and dark chocolate, and sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Now you see it....................................

Now you DON'T!!!!

Tada!
See, I told you, its MAGIC! The magically disappearing crepe! It vanishes right before your eyes! :)
LOL

If you are from Kansas City I HIGHLY recommend this place. It surpassed all of my expectations!

If you are not from KC I recommend visiting this place if you have a chance to come to the area.

And maybe you too can enjoy some MAGICAL crepes! I swear....they will disappear right before your eyes!!!

And, to further the love of crepes, check out Sand and Sisal for Kim's crepe recipe that you can make in the comfort of your own home if there are no creperies in your area.

Her crepes look yummy and I betcha they do MAGIC too!
