I am super excited today to have Dagmar Obert as a guest post for you. She is a highly creative and established designer for Balsam Hill where she has written various how-to guides and inspiring articles which you can read more about below.
We all love sprucing up our places but decorating on a budget is a must, so Dagmar has taken this into consideration and made it easy for us by creating a design board with three different looks for one space.
And I must say, she picked some gorgeous pieces!

One Entryway, 3 Different Ways
Entryways are always fun to decorate; they make such a big impact, because they’re the first thing you and your guests see upon entering your home. But because they’re usually quite small, it’s not too costly to spruce them up. And whether you’re looking for sturdy, functional pieces that will help to keep the space tidy, or chic statement pieces that are the perfect introduction to the style of your home, it’s easy to find the right combination of choices for your home.
Neutral Textures
If you want your entryway to be a restful space that’s easy on the eyes, then it’s best to stick with a calming, neutral palette, and add interest by layering textures rather than lots of different colors. An elegant teak bench with an interesting design provides a place to take off shoes, and a set of baskets is quick storage for sundries like umbrellas. Decorative accents like the resins canisters can also be used to store small odds and ends, and the orange throw pillow adds a subtle nod to fall foliage.

Bold Originality
On the other hand, if you’re aiming for a look that’s more eye-catching and fun, be sure to incorporate bold color and pattern into your design plan. A console with a drawer gives you a place to leave your mail, and can be dressed up with a quirky vase. Unusual sconces flanking the table make for a nice vignette, and the look is finished off by a striking rug that adds a more organic texture and pattern into the mix.

Classically Glamorous
If you have a hall closet nearby to take care of any messes, then why not let your entryway be all about style? An intricately carved console looks perfect when combined with a vintage-inspired mirror (which lets you check yourself on your way out the door) and statement-making crane-shaped lamp. Flank your table with a pair of lighted topiaries, and you’ll have the perfect setup for a dramatic entrance into your home.
