Easy Project Using My Cricut & Vinyl

If you follow my "Thrifty Finds" posts you may remember I recently found this large black and white plate/platter at my local GW and I said I had plans for it. (If not you can read about it here.)The platter has a black and white Waverly patterned floral design on it and I bought it with the intention of putting it in our home office which is decorated in black, white, and turquoise.

 

Here is the platter BEFORE:

 

 

I used my Cricut "Sophistcate" cartridge and inserted my mat with black peel and stick vinyl using a 2 for the pressure and 2 for the speed.

 

 

 

{Love} this cartridge!

 

 

 

Then unpeeled the background vinyl so that the wording was still left and then used my transfer paper to grab the image and transfer it on to the plate.

 

Then VOILA! Here is the finished product and I LOVE IT!

I used a plate easel to display the platter (love easels....if you don't have any I highly recommend getting a few).

 

 

Not bad for an easy-peasy project on a Sunday evening, and this is one of those projects I have had on my list FOREVER so now I can also mark this off my to-do list. (yeah!)

 

 

(FYI-The fleur de lis glass jar sitting on the bottom of this shelf is another Cricut project I did a few months back. You can find the post here. I am currently using the jar to hold my paint color swatches but you can see in the post where it was before-it is a very versatile piece.)

 

 

This plate project only cost me about $3 bucks-the cost of the thrift store plate and a small piece of vinyl that I already had so it was very affordable and easy to do.
