Valentines Day Favorites

Valentines Day will be here before you know it so I created a collection of some of my favorite Valentines Day crafts and décor.

(Click on links to go to owning sites.)

For starters, here is an easy way to add some "Love" to your home without using pink and red.

These letters are sold at most craft stores, and look how great they are together spelling the word "LOVE"!

Even though this is simple and done in neutrals, its still adds a little whimsical touch to your décor.

And how about a heart shaped trivet for the kitchen?

Check out this tutorial to make heart shaped soap.

Wouldn't these make a nice Valentine's Day gift for your coworkers or girlfriends?

Or a blanket to keep you and your Valentine warm and cozy?
(wink wink)

Maybe snuggle on the couch and watch a movie together??? :)

Or how about welcoming your family home everyday with this heart rug?

I like to add simple touches like this around the house for Valentines Day.

If you're feeling a little wild, this lip pillow is for you.

I love how its a little edgy but also really fun!

Maybe you have an old deck of cards lying around?

If so, here are two unique ways to use them!

Make a Valentines Day banner by simply using  a hole punch and some ribbon....

...Or how about a mini book of things you love about your Valentine?!?!

And what about those of you celebrating "anti-Valentines
(which will probably include me this year!) HA!

I found this card on Moo.com and it cracks me up!

They have more "anti-Valentines", business cards, and other printed materials too. You can find them at Moo.com

And finally, a pretty makeover of mason jars with some flowers to brighten up your day!

Or if you are GIVING flowers for Valentines Day, this would be a great vase to put them in.

Who wouldn't love these?!

New Rug and Slipcovers in the Dining Room

It has been a while since I have given you an update on the dining room.

It all started this past Summer with a new paint color,

then later in the Summer I made over my Craigslist dining room table, and now here we are.

My, my, how time has flown by!

I lost my steam this fall and then came the holidays so the dining room makeover  naturally got put on the back burner.

If you follow me on Facebook you saw that I bought new slipcovers right around Thanksgiving.

I knew all along that I wanted slipcovers and a rug, but it has take me a while to pick them out.

Actually, the slipcovers were easy to find- it just took me a while to decide on which ones I wanted, but I the rug was very difficult to find.

I searched high and low and looked at many different colors and sizes of rugs until I finally came across this one from Target.

Threshold Fretwork Rug

It wasn't too fussy or fancy, and it wasn't plane Jane either.

And the price was just right.

The slipcovers were from Overstock which you can see HERE.

I haven't ironed them out yet so ignore the wrinkles!!!! :)

I like this rug because it is a low pile, meaning the fibers that make up the rug are short which means the chairs will glide over it easier, and it should be a lot easier to keep clean than a shaggy, high pile rug.

The room is coming together nicely with just a few more things left before its all said and done!

The next round involves more paint, a nail gun, and some imagination, so there is definitely more to come in the dining room makeover before its all done, but for now, the slipcovers and rug really help solidify the gray and white color pallet and give it a nice cottage feel.
