This one's for the birds!

So if you have followed my last couple posts you know that we have a birds nest in the wreath on our front door. Some mama bird created a nest on the inside of the wreath that backs up to the front door. Well, the eggs have finally hatched and the birdies are making their big debut. Here they are in all their glory!

I think they are just a day or two old. I am so excited to watch them grow....I only get to see this once a year in the Spring so I'm pretty excited about it! LOL

I also wanted to share with you some fresh cut peonies I picked (outta my neighbors yard). They didn't mind and I couldn't stand to let these beautiful pink flowers go without proper display so I put them in the jar that I frosted. I used Valspar's frosting spray paint and love it. It was so easy to use and the frosting turned out great! This jar was just my guinea pig, and now that I know how the frosting spray paint looks I have bigger plans ahead to use it on!

I've displayed them in two different spots and finally chose the little stand in our kitchen/dining room so that I can see them everyday as I pass by. Peonies are so fragrant. {LOVE THEM!}

Last but not least, one of my latest thrift store finds.....a FABULOUS down filled pillow. OMG the second I discovered this pillow I had to have it. Its gorgeous and high end....and drum roll please...I only paid $1.99! Gotta love Goodwill and those who donate! One woman's trash is defiately MY treasure! :)

Thats it for my week. I worked a lot so the only "project" I have to show you is my frosted/striped glass jar. There are so many tutorials out there for this that I decided not to post one but I will tell you all you need to do is clean your jar and make sure it is thoroughly dried, tape it off in a design (stripes, etc.)then spray away with the frosted spray paint using even strokes holding the can a few inches from your jar. Be sure not to touch it and let it air dry for at least an hour. Easy peasy and oh so cute!

Have a great weekend my friends!

This and that kind of weekend-

I've been working a lot so I haven't had a lot of time to post but I wanted to share with you a few cool things from the weekend, but I will go in reverse order and show you what I found when we got home from our road trip.........

Thats right....a REAL birds nest a mama bird made over the weekend on the inside of the wreath on our front door! How cool is that?! I hope she doesn't get scared and fly off though. She made a perfect little nest and laid four eggs so hopefully some time soon we can watch the baby birds hatch. I am going to try to open the door and steal a picture of mama bird for you....since our screen door is glass and the wreath is on the outside of the door she is in the perfect place for us to steal a peek as long as we are careful and don't scare her off. We primarily use our garage entrance so she shouldn't be bothered too much by being on the front door, which is good because I don't want her to get scared and fly off.

Ok, so as for the weekend, the man and I had a great time on our road trip out to my friend's wedding about 3 hours north of KC. On our way to our destination we stopped half way at Jampesport, MO which is an Amish town. There are bed and breakfasts, shops, baked goods, a couple cafes, etc. Its a cozy little Amish town that sells the best home made goods. We stopped in for lunch at one of the cafes and did a little shopping. I found an enamel bowl with lid that was in great shape for only $10 bucks so I snatched it up! ...thinking I could use it as a flower pot on the patio.

I also picked up this cute watering can made out of wood picket fence pieces. I thought I could really get creative with it and could use it all year round by changing out whatever seasonal items I end up putting inside of it. It was unique and I couldn't resist!

And I couldn't stop in Jamesport without taking home some awesome homemade baked goodies, so we bought a couple loaves of homemade bread. {YUM!} Got a sourdough loaf and a honey wheat loaf. I can't wait to try a new recipe with the sourdough. When I do I will share it with you. :)

And who could resist this HEAVENLY pan of warm ooey gooey brownies at the cafe we visited???!!! I had a big scoop of that brownie goodness a la mode and it was awesome!

Last but definately not least are some pics of my friend Linda and her husband James, my BFF Sherry (i'm on the left), and the man who tolerates my hoarding and decorating..... :)

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

This year we are celebrating Easter on both sides of our family but one on Saturday and one on Sunday...which is nice so we don't have to hurry from one house to the next. Our Easter festivities on Saturday included kids so we had dinner, an Easter egg hunt, and desert with the family. The weather took a turn and wasn't as nice as it has been, but it was good as far as Spring weather goes and we had a great time. Here are some pics of the egg hunt-

Here are the kids with their goodies. Of course the older boys had fun hiding the eggs and watching the girls run around the yard searching for them!

The kids had fun hunting for eggs and the weather cooperated with us which was nice. All in all it was a nice relaxing day spent with family.
